This year I had the honor of being put on the same Lead Team that I was a part of last year: Relay for Life. Last year I was able to raise over $1600 for this fundraiser and I was extremely proud of myself and happy to represent the LI by doing so. Unfortunately, this year has been a different story.
It honestly hurts me to say it but I bit off a lot more than I could chew this semester and it has definitely hindered my ability to put the time and effort needed into raising money like I did last year. I have still gone to every team meeting and provided vital input and information for our team’s fundraiser, but I have not been able to search for donations like I did last year. To be honest, it really sucks not having time for an event as amazing as this but my mind has been other places this semester with class, cheer, SAE and my goal of starting a business which are all difficult to take time from.
Besides not being able to raise money like I did last year, I still have been helping my team and motivate them every time I see them to strive for more donations since I cant. It’s awesome seeing many of them being passionate about this event and I see a lot of potential for our team! Kayla Garza has done an amazing job being the leader of our team and, because of her, we have raised more money than we did last year at our fundraiser. We put on the “Pie an LI” fundraiser last week, which helped raise sufficient funds for our team. I am ecstatic for the actual event in a few weeks and will definitely be there as long as I can be since I did not raise a lot of money this year.
